Valentines Day set
For Valentine’s Day I made this beautiful matching set using the Bella bralette and Penelope panties patterns.
I’ve been wanting to use this vibrant fuchsia pink lace for ages, so Valentine’s was the perfect occasion. I also needed a photo of the two styles together, as many of you like to buy the two patterns as a bundle.
One of the tricky things about making lingerie is finding all the bits and pieces that are required. Elastics, casings, shoulder straps, linings, hook and eyes… the list goes on. And of course, everything looks so much nicer if it all matches in colour. One of the ways around this is to use a nude colour like I’ve done here.
I used a stretch mesh for the cup lining, and 10mm/3/8″ nude lingerie elastic. A 6mm/1/4″ wide clear elastic was perfect for along the top of the cups and inside the straps. I wrote a post on making these straps which you can find here.
I experimented with the colour thread I used. It depends how fussy you are (sometimes I am, sometimes I’m not – depends on my mood!) I ended up redoing the underarm elastic and used a nude colour thread underneath and a pink colour on top, and it looked much nicer.
The stretch galloon lace was quite wide at 23cm/9″, so I was able to use it as an all over for the panties front and back. I also lined the panties with the stretch mesh, and found an almost matching gusset lining.
The Bella and Penelope patterns are available on the website as a bundle.
