Sophia top
Introducing the Sophia top for women – our newest and most stylish sewing pattern to date! An elegant cowl neckline over a fitted camisole layer makes the Sophia look and feel fabulous to wear.
The horizontal neckline of the cami can be trimmed with lace or left unadorned. Soft gathers from the shoulders form into fluid drapes across the front, which is very flattering if your tummy is not as flat as it once was! So while the fitted layer underneath gives the illusion of a fitted top, the cowl drapes across the front give an elegant look that you can feel comfortable in. Breathe easy!
There are 3 options with the sleeves – a sleeveless version with bound armholes which is perfect for summer, a 3/4 length sleeve for in between seasons, and a long sleeve. So the Sophia has got you covered for all weather!
Made with stretch knit material, the Sophia is so comfortable to wear. Use the front cowl and cami layer to mix and match prints and plains. I suggest a soft rayon or modal spandex for this design – a soft lightweight fabric that drapes well is perfect for this design. The cami can be made with a heavier weight to help you feel held in! The pattern is available in Australian sizes 8 – 20. (US size 4 through to size 16) (EU size 36 through to size 48). A full measurement chart is included to help you determine your size, and tips for combining sizes as well.
The Sophia can be made as a casual top or be totally dressed up depending on your fabric choice. I think you will find yourself making many looks, I have been wearing all 7 of my Sophia tops (and counting!)
The Sophia name was given to this pattern simply because I love the name. My daughters always ask me what I would call my next girl (!!!) and I always say Sophia. Sophia means ‘wisdom’ in Greek – say no more!
