Ruby women’s wrap skirt
The Ruby women’s wrap skirt is finally here! I am so excited about this pattern, as it’s a garment that I’ve really wanted in my wardrobe for ages! Summer is Hong Kong is extremely hot and humid (I can’t begin to tell you what it does to my hair!) so a light cotton skirt is the perfect thing to wear in this town. I have been wearing my Ruby skirts continuously for the past month!
The Ruby women’s pattern, like the Ruby girl’s pattern is a beginner pattern, which makes it a quick and easy sew. The pattern has 3 options – plain, lace and colour block. Feature a beautiful print using the plain option, embellish with diagonally placed laces using the lace option, or create a combination of solid colours or co-ordinating prints using the colour block option. The back and inner front skirt are made in the same fabric. The skirt does up with a ribbon or a bias binding waistband, and a press snap.
The skirt can be made without a serger / overlocker, so this is a perfect skirt for the beginner sewer.
I like the simplicity of a wrap skirt, but I also like a little bit of personality in my clothes. This design allows you to express your individuality and create something totally unique to you.
I especially love the colour block option. I have so many smaller scraps of fabric from my sewing classes that I plan to use up on this skirt. I love my colour block version in soft blue and green prints.
There are so many different looks that can be made out of the one pattern. Next on my list is a plain chambray denim skirt and, inspired by one of my testers, an evening skirt made out of Chinese brocade.
The pattern comes in Australian women’s sizes 8 – 20. As usual, the pattern has a layers function, so you are able to just print out the size you need. Both metric and imperial measurements are used. Your 54 page PDF file includes a full tutorial and computer generated pattern. You will also receive a A0 and 36″ wide copy shop file.
