My first Post.
Welcome to my very first post for Daydream Patterns. This is a special day for me, as this is something that I’ve been working towards for some time now. The story really starts 4 years ago when I was happily living in a lovely house in sunny Brisbane, Australia. I was running my own bridal studio and had just had a beautiful website made, my daughters were aged 9 and 6, so my husband and I were busy with life, but loving it.
Then one day in 2011 my dear husband, who works for an international fashion company was offered the opportunity to relocate to Hong Kong to look after the Asian region for his company. Goodbye blue skies! Good bye peaceful, sweet life! What a family adventure we were about to embark on. So 3 and 1/2 years on we are still here, living the expat life in Hong Kong. I have slowly adjusted to living in this crazy city of 7.7 million people, and in the process have discovered a vibrant and amazing textile industry. I have access to textiles and sewing products here that I could only have dreamed about at home.
It wasn’t until I set up my sewing studio at home that I started to feel ‘normal’ in my new life again, and I have since built a thriving little business and that includes running sewing classes and now designing digital sewing patterns.
In future I hope to blog about my sewing adventures here in Hong Kong and to share my knowledge in the hope that I inspire you to bring some sewing creativity into your life.
